shoutout to that time at work I told a college dude automatically “fantastic!” when he put his card in the chip reader correctly (bc I find complimenting customers on it makes them Do It Again Right The Next Time) and he returned way later saying “I’ve been chasing that high of hearing you call me fantastic for like a week now”
Went to the ER for a possible anaphylactic reaction and they left me in the waiting room for an hour at which point the reaction had faded so I went home. They still sent me a bill even though the only person I’d spoken to was the receptionist, and had I not responded to my meds I would have died in the waiting room.
Yes I refused to pay the bill and yes they eventually cancelled it. Can I recommend a scathing Yelp review as an excellent way to light a fire under hospitals for this kind of bullshit - afaik the bad publicity is the only reason they didn’t try to force me to pay the bill.
My sister went to Urgent Care because food was stuck in her throat and she couldn’t drink or eat. While in the waiting room, it dislodged and she was good but they gave her some orange juice and then billed us about 600 dollars, called and asked why we should pay when 1) she was taken to a closet instead of a real examination room and 2) they did nothing besides give her some orange juice. In the end did not have to pay when we called and said “wow that’s some expensive orange juice”
They charged me $500 to deny me a preventative rabies vaccine
